About This Site

This Website belongs to the family of William Edward “Ed” Morin and Irene Delphine (Roberts) Morin. The initial focus of our efforts is to provide an information source on the ancestry of each family line and to provide a place for the subsequent generations of the family of Ed and Irene to share their life events.

Thanks to Stanislas Morin, we had some genealogy documentation dating back to the arrival of our Morin ancestors in North America. His daughter, Olive Morin Roy, translated a handwritten document preserved by Stanislas from French into English. His youngest son, Levi Morin, first published the Morin ancestry (through the 10th generation) in 1970. Laura Morin Knipp updated this document (through the 12th generation) in 1988. Sister Veronica Mary Roy, in a major undertaking, brought the ancestry of the Hebert – Frigon – St. Peter – Morin – Senesac families forward from their respective North America beginnings to final settlement in the area around Damar Kansas. Her research is documented in Ma Famille (My Family), published in 1994. Copies should be in the hands of the families of all of the children of Stanislas and Rosanna. With over 500 pages, it is rich in the history of these French families in North America and I commend it to all seeking a full appreciation of these families.

This website is dedicated to Ed and Irene Morin and their descendants. The vision is that it be perpetuated by subsequent generations. Much of the collateral documentation for both sides of the family are from the long term efforts of Rita Marie St. Peter Roberts to collect information for most of the French Canadian families of Rooks County and Graham County Kansas. Furthermore, the dedication and diligence of Robert “Bob” Morin, Shirley (Morin) Riney, and Pamela Morin Roberts, have resulted in family history boards curated by the Damar Community Foundation. As this website evolves, the family lines of Ed and Irene will be able to continue to record their contributions to this legacy.

Thanks to Annette (Thibault) Hardenburgh, we have some genealogy documentation on the immediate ancestors and descendants. In 1999 she compiled The Descendants of George Phillip Roberts and Alice Simoneau Roberts. In 2017 Shirley (Morin) Riney updated this document. Shirley also compiled a pictorial history of the family of Ed and Irene Morin. Copies of these documents should be in the hands of the children of Ed and Irene Morin.
